Construction Technology

Bitucell

Bitucell is manufactured from water resistant, bitumen impregnated, woodfibre softboards and is available in a wide range of sizes, both as boards and strips. Bitucell displays excellent resistance to compression, with outstanding recovery characteristics. It can be used in conjunction with polysulphide sealants, waterstops, rubber bitumen compounds, etc, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

NB: When used in conjunction with polysulphide sealants, a PVC separating layer should be used between the sealant and the Bitucell filler to prevent any reaction with the sealant.

Applications

  • External walling and cladding: filling structural expansion and structural separation joints in block and insitu concrete construction.
  • Traffic surfaces: filling expansion joints in motorways, roads, runways, pedestrian areas, bridges, etc.
  • Internal surfaces: filling expansion joints across concrete floors, including screed floors with underfloor heating.
  • Roofs and floor finishes: ideal for filling expansion joints in concrete flat roofs.
  • Building substructures: filling expansion joints in basements, retaining walls, site slabs, subways and other water excluding structures.
